Rural Cooperative Development

  • Available Funding:  $5,800,000
  • Match Required:  25% of total project costs (5% for Native American tribally-controlled colleges and universities that were granted land-grant status under an Act of Congress in 1994).
  • Period of Performance: no more than one year (between October 1, 2024 – January 1, 2025)

Purpose of Funding: The primary objective of the Rural Cooperative Development Grant Program (RCDG) program is to improve the economic condition of Rural Areas by helping individuals and businesses start, expand, or improve Rural cooperatives and Mutually Owned Businesses through Cooperative Development Centers.

RCBG Key Priorities: Creating more and better market opportunities through improved infrastructure; advancing social justice by ensuring all rural residents have equitable access to programs and benefits from Rural Development funded projects; addressing climate change and environmental justice by reducing climate pollution and increasing resilience to the impacts of climate change through economic support to rural communities (www.rd.usda.gov/priority-points).

Eligibility:  Nonprofit corporations and institutions of higher education are eligible to apply.  Project activities must be for the benefit of a Rural Area.
