Purpose of Funding (fields of work and funding uses):  The RAISE grant program is for surface transportation infrastructure projects that address safety, environmental sustainability, quality of life, mobility and connectivity, economic competitiveness, state of good repair, partnership and collaboration, and innovation. For RAISE, “surface transportation project” includes roads, bridges, rail, port infrastructure, intermodal projects, and culverts. With a minimum award of $1 million in rural areas, RAISE is aimed at projects that have a significant local or regional impact.

Eligibility (location of project and entity): States, US territories, a unit of local government, a special purpose district or public authority with a transportation function, including a port authority; a Federally recognized Indian Tribe or a consortium of such Indian Tribes; a transit agency; and a multi-State or multijurisdictional group of entities
