    • Match Required: Federal funds may cover no more than 75% of total eligible project costs, so applicants must provide at least a 25% non-federal match. Third-party in-kind contributions are not allowed for the match.
  • Purpose of Funding: To help small shipyards make capital improvements and support maritime training programs that improve efficiency, competitive operations, quality ship construction/repair/reconfiguration, and workforce productivity in shipbuilding, ship repair, and associated industries.
  • Eligibility: Eligible applicants are small shipyards under 46 U.S.C. § 54101(h). The shipyard must be in a single geographic location, have no more than 1,200 production employees, and the applicant must be the operating company of the shipyard. The facility must construct, repair, or reconfigure vessels 40 feet or longer for commercial or government use, or 100 feet or longer for non-commercial vessels.
