  • Purpose of Funding: The Partners for Fish and Wildlife (PFW) Program provides technical and financial assistance to restore and enhance fish and wildlife habitat on private lands through voluntary, partnership‑driven conservation projects. The program emphasizes habitat restoration for federal trust species, including migratory birds, threatened and endangered species, and at‑risk fish and wildlife. Funded projects commonly restore wetlands, streams, grasslands, riparian areas, and other priority habitats while supporting working lands and rural communities.
  • Eligibility: Eligible applicants include a wide range of entities, including:
    • State, county, city, township, and special district governments
    • Federally recognized Native American Tribal governments and Tribal organizations
    • Public and private institutions of higher education
    • Nonprofits (with or without 501(c)(3) status)

    • For profit organizations and small businesses
    Projects must occur on private lands, which includes Tribal lands, municipal lands, nonprofit lands, and privately owned properties. Applicants must coordinate with local PFW Program staff before applying.
